The How

Realizing that I was nearly 30 and still pretty overweight, I needed a game plan to kick start my weight loss. This is what’s worked for me so far:

• Cut out the crap and eat healthier
What it really means:
-no longer eating fast food like McDonalds, Burger King, White Castle, etc.
-giving up junk food like chips, chocolates & fries
-sticking to the basic food groups
-eating clean foods
-more fruits and veggies
-more lean meats like chicken and fish, less red meat
-cutting out sugary drinks and gulping down water like the world is drying up

• If I do eat crap, make sure it’s smaller portions or the suggested portion size
-If I have to eat crap, I’ll choose the least crappiest thing on the menu like a grilled chicken sandwich, no fries and water to drink.
-And if I’m really craving something, I’ll eat a little bit and put away the rest. No need to eat a gallon of ice cream or a box of chocolates, a scoop or a piece won’t kill my diet. Besides, it’s good to cheat every once in a while so that your body doesn’t get bored.

• Exercise!!
-at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes
-Couch-2-5K
-running
-elliptical
-weights
-exercise videos
I currently don’t have a plan in place as I’m looking for someone to help me set one up and teach how to use the weight machine properly. But I do enjoy running. That’s one thing I’ve been doing a lot of in the past. Unfortunately having to get back on that horse is proving to be a bit on the tough side, but in a few weeks I should be back to my old pace again.
